This is a big one. If you remember the old adage “body language is 55% of communication” you’ll be set. Another thing to remember is your parents catch-phrase “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”. The experts will tell you that what you say may make-up as little as 7% of a successful conversation, the rest is tone, presence and body language.
Just as important as being confident is recognizing situations. Before approaching someone observe their body language to see if they are interested. If she’s making eye contact and smiling at you or playing with her hair or jewelry, chances are you’ve got a good shot. If she’s looking at her phone or engaged in a conversation with a friend you’re likely to get rejected before you can say “Hi, my name is.”
